My name is Lyric (AKA Grammar Babe), and I'm a freelance book editor specializing in memoirs and other non-fiction works. Of course, I edit all genres, but my heart belongs to non-fiction. To me, editing is the best job in the world because not only do I get paid to read books (yay!), but I also have a part in creating something amazing! At some point, I'd like to write my own book—most likely a memoir—but until I work up the courage to start that journey, I will dedicate my time to helping other writers who are brave enough to bare their souls to the world.
I've created this blog as a place where I can ramble about all things reading, writing, and editing—exciting, right? Here, you'll gain access to all of my super helpful writing and editing tips, book reviews, freelance advice, and more! Hopefully, you find some value in the information I'm sharing. If not, at least you got a glimpse into my inner monologue, which, honestly, is entertainment enough!
All jokes aside, I'm actually pretty nervous about publishing this blog; I'm self-conscious about my writing and don't really think I'm as good of a writer as others I've come across. I know almost every writer that possesses some form of humility can relate to that, but I digress. Coming up with unique and creative content has always been a challenge for me, but this year, I've made it my mission to face my fears head-on, whatever they may be, instead of letting them hold me back like I've done in the past. I realize the harm in comparing myself to others, so I'm trying my best to just do what comes naturally (rambling).
So, if you're even remotely interested in my banter, please subscribe and keep me company, so I don't flush my dream of writing down the toilet for good. The fate of my writing career is in your hands... no pressure!
